Every Fish Lid has a story. Some become instant classics, some are limited to a single run, and every now and then, a fish lid swims off into early retirement.

Pictured: the two original Pallion Point designs. The Coral Trout has remained a fan favourite for over half a decade, and The Footballer has found a quiet beach for a long, slow and sun-filled retirement.
The Footballer (2021-2023)
The old blue-spot that didn't want to grow up; the Footballer Trout (Plectropomus laevis) is the most distinct colour phase of the coral trout family. Overseas they're commonly called a black-saddled coral grouper, or a footballer cod.
This was one of the first two original Fish Lid designs, and will always hold a special place in our hearts. We still occasionally see a few salt-battered Footballer Lids floating around the marinas of the Whitsundays, but they're a rare breed these days.

The Tan Red Emperor (2021)
The Red Emperor - your Grandfather might know it as the Government bream, but regardless of what you call it this big red sea-perch is a king amongst the fishes.
We launched the original Red Emperor in two limited-run colours: tan & stone blue. After six months, we pulled the plug on the less popular Tan and ordered a restock in the best-selling stone blue colourway, and haven't looked back since. With less than 200 tan Red Emperor Fish Lids ever produced, this may just be the rarest Fish Lid design in existence.

The Giant Trevally (2022-2023)
The Giant Trevally (Caranx Ignobilis); an impressive fish that is fast, strong and mean, known in different places by a handful of names. Whether you call them ulua, giant kingfish, barrier trevally or GT, they were a worthy noggin topper and a gnarly addition to a Fish Lid collection.
Although they were loved by those who wore them, the Giant Trevally Lids were never a huge hit with the Pallion Point community. As a brand known for its colourful fish hats, all we can guess is that only a small and dedicated few of us were keen for a black hat with a big silver fish plastered across the front.

The Nautilus (2023-2024)
Inspired by the shells we would find washed up on the beach, this lid featured a unique vibrant green colour-way and an embroidered design of the ocean's unofficially most-loved cephalopod.
We experimented with something a bit different to our usual, releasing a hat in a vibrant non-washed green fabric and a species that is both rarely seen, and not a fish at all. This design was pretty much exclusively snapped up by marine biologists, diving geeks and fashion girlies loving the on-trend green colour. But within a year, trends changed, and unfortunately the Nautilus Lid was laid to rest.

The Coral (2023-2024)
Launched in collaboration with Ocean Grown Gin to give back to the underwater world we all love, this classic off-white lid featured an embroidered blue staghorn coral (Acropora cervicornis). 5% of every Coral Lid sold was donated to Reef Restoration Foundation, helping regenerate the coral reefs along Queensland's coast.
Produced as a limited edition lid, we knew it would have limited lifespan, though there may be a few floating around the Grown Spirts distillery still to this day.

The Mustard Tusky (2021-2025)
The Blackspot Tuskfish (Choerodon schoenleinii) is found in tropical waters across Australia and also known as a Tusky or Bluebone.
One of the oldest lids in the line-up, the mustard Tusky was a crowd favourite for years before finally passing on the baton to the 2025 update - the Bluebone Lid. The revised lid features the same hugely loved fish, on a super soft rich blue fabric - a long overdue change-up that has become one of our best-selling (and comfiest) lids.

The Orca (2024-2025)
The Orca (Orcinus orca), also known as the killer whale, is the ultimate apex predator and cold-water icon. After a string of new product launches that saw the Fish Lid range almost double in the space of a year, we got experimental and tried something different - a turquoise lid.
Turns out it may have been a bit too experimental, the Orca may have been a bit too prominent, and we may have accidentally created a hat reserved solely for the type of human that priorities fish over fashion. The turqoise Orca was a tough colour to wear with style, and we salute all those who tried.

The Dhufish (2025-2026)
The Dhufish Lid (Glaucosoma hebraicum) joined the line-up after relentless requests from the Pallion Point community over in WA, paying tribute to the prized WA deep-water beauty. Set on a rich ochre base inspired by sunbaked cliffs and late-arvo light, this one was for our west-coast crew.
Almost exclusively this one sold to customers in WA, so as thrilled as we were to offer a niche fish lid that may have been the only ever occurance of a Dhufish on a hat, we did pull the plug on this one to focus on more widely-loved species. To this day, this still remains one of the least-tagged Fish Lids on Instagram - so they're out there, but you're absolutely keeping them to yourselves.
