Whitsundays, QLD Australia

G'day, welcome to Pallion Point. Pull up a towel, dangle your legs in, and get comfy.
This story’s a good one.

Some families pass down recipes. Others pass down heirlooms or surnames that mean something in a small town.

Ours passed down a love of the ocean, a few tall tales, and the kind of knowledge that only comes from generations spent on the water.

Ashleigh, founder and Head(gear) Honcho of Pallion Point, comes from a long line of people who have called the Whitsundays home. Her dad, and his dad, and his dad before him have lived along that stretch of coastline for as long as anyone can remember.

They're a local family whose best days are spent exploring reefs and islands together, with local spots and stories to match.

The fish get bigger, the secret spots get better, and the colourful characters (mostly fish, but not exclusively) become the stuff of legend by the time everyone is swapping tales on deck.

If you ask Ashleigh's dad, he will tell you the Whitsundays is the best stretch of coastline in the country. If you asked his dad, he would’ve told you it was better in his day.

That's what tends to happen when your family has spent generations on, in, and around the water. It shapes what a good day looks like, where you feel happiest, and why so many of your best stories begin somewhere offshore. So, really, it was probably inevitable that a life like that would end up turning into a brand like this.

It was the first day of 2020, and Ashleigh had one of those days you talk about for years to come: glassed out water, perfect drifts, pristine reefs and her first-ever footballer trout. And to keep the memory alive, she painted a wonky water colour of her catch.

Then COVID rolled in, taking good moods and open borders with it. The painting brought that day back, and she wanted something she could wear that did the same.

But there wasn’t a brand out there that repped her ocean-loving life. Macho fishing gear? Sure. Girly surf brands? Everywhere. But there’s no surf in the Whitsundays.

And with that the Fish Lid was born: a (very, very good) dad cap with a (very excellent hand-drawn fish) embroidered on it, for people with (exceptionally good) taste.

What started as one fish became a collection of lids, then a community, and then a brand for people who froth the big blue thing we all know and love.

These days, Pallion Point is run by Ashleigh and her partner in life and business, James, from the Whitsundays. Which, if you needed reminding, is still the best stretch of coastline in the country.

We don’t take ourselves too seriously, but we take our love of the ocean very seriously.

We're here for a good time and a long time, which means we still want to be on the water wearing our lids with our kids, and their kids.

We put our money where our heart is. Since 2021, we’ve donated more than $12,000 to Australian and international ocean charities, and we currently give 1% of our profits to Sharks and Rays Australia, who do brilliant work researching and protecting endangered sharks and sawfish.

After all, none of this works without the ocean and all its residents.

From fishos to frothers, snorkellers to sun-lovers, and everyone in between, Pallion Point is made for you.

From our coast to yours,
Ashleigh & James
