"I don't know about you, but I bloody love an Aussie Christmas. I'm all about long seafood lunches by the pool, a cold cocktail in hand (mango daiquiri, of course), surrounded by friends and family (all in Fish Lids, naturally).
And nothing annoys me more than the northern hemisphere's influence on my favourite summer's day. Candy canes, reindeers and wool lined hats don't match the vibe. So selfishly, I've gone and designed a bucket of prawns for my Christmas tree...
Prawnaments, if you will.
Now I know this is pretty rogue considering for the last 5 years we've only sold hats. These Christmas babies are handmade, 100% wool and will come in a cardboard bucket to help keep them safe in storage for many years to come. As they're hand felted we won't be getting a lot made - at this stage there will only be 100 available."
Ashleigh wrote that in an email to you guys last July, and boy have we had some developments since then. They went viral in Mexico, sold out overnight, and we had hundreds of you demanding their return... but we'll get to that soon enough.
The Lifecycle of a Prawnament
The first thing you should know, is that not all prawns are made equal. We had our fair share of cooked prawns in the product development process, and feel that we should share some of the early iterations so you can join in our amusement (or frustration). Being an Australian Christmas icon, we made a commitment to the prawn early on that they would actually look like a prawn. Turns out that is easier said than done.
We can laugh about it now, but at the time we were crying salty tears.

The Viral Video
With a 100% wool design finally nailed and some super cute packaging on its way, we shared our first video of the Prawnaments - just a Christmas tree in the corner of our living room, covered in a hundred prawns. The video had a million views overnight.
Unknown to us, we had stumbled into some kind of strange Mexican meme culture about what we could only work out (from our limited Spanish) was that Mexicans love a combination of seafood + Christmas + weirdness, and we'd just ticked all three.
Check it out for yourself here.

Then the rest of the world jumped on board. India went wild for them, Japanese comments started to roll in packed with sushi emojis, and then the Europeans and Americans with their shrimply wonderful puns.

It's the most shrimpable time of the year
The creative comments were coming thick and fast. And we loved it, until they sold out. Our Aussie audience and Pallion Point regulars started realising they had missed out, and some were furious. It was only mid-November, but with each prawnament hand-felted by artisans, we knew we could never restock before Christmas. But the views kept coming... we hit 10million by the end of the month, and over 500,000 people had sent the video to a friend. A few hundred had even got so far as to find the sold out product page, and sign up to be notified of a restock that we knew would never come.
Once we got over the fact that we potentially missed out on hundreds of sales, and hundreds of Christmas trees around the world were left prawn-free... we turned our attention to next Christmas.
New supplier, new design, new packaging
With a year to improve on the prawnament even further, we committed to finding a specialist felt manufacturer who could produce higher quantities at the high quality we would need if we wanted to order even more prawns next year - so we went to China.
Three months later, and I'm writing this knowing that Ashleigh is in the next room hitting "pay" on an order for Prawnaments ten times the size of last year, and we have no idea if that is way too many or not enough. Our designer is working on a slightly more legitimate packaging cylinder that will be double as fun and double as gift-worthy as our slightly DIY kraft ice cream tubs from last year. And we've just wrapped up our biggest campaign shoot ever for Pallion Point summer and Fishmas, where prawnaments featured heavily as tree ornaments and table decorations, and we can't wait to share more.
So stay tuned for Fishmas 2026 and the latest evolution of the Pallion Point Prawnament, because something tells me this might not be the end of the story...
And if you don't want to miss out on this year's drop, make sure to sign up here to get first access. We promise you'll get a launch email before we publish any kind of potentially viral social media video. The rest of the world can wait their turn this year... it's Australia's turn to stock up on prawnaments.
